Cub Accounts
We’re proud to be partnering with the Berenstain Bears® to offer youth savings accounts for children aged 11 and under. This fun and educational program helps your child build strong financial habits using the concepts of Save, Share, Spend, Earn.
Financial literacy is one of the most important skills you can pass on, and starting early can have a big impact on your child’s relationship with money. In addition to building these lifelong skills, opening a Cub Account grants your child access to a no fees or minimums savings account which can immediately earn dividends at 0.25% APY*
Here at Industrial Credit Union, we believe strongly in the importance of teaching the youth in our community about the power of saving.

What is Save, Share, Spend, Earn?
Save, Share, Spend, Earn is the core concept behind the Berenstain Bears® Financial Literacy Program.
Save
Setting up a savings account is the natural first step in your little ones saving journey. Be sure to set savings goals and make deposits to build the habit of saving regularly. Opening a savings account also provides an opportunity to show the value of interest, and with a simple 0.25% APY* earned on every dollar, we make it easy for young members to understand how their money grows without confusing balance caps or introductory rates.
Share
At Industrial Credit Union, we think it’s important to instill the importance of generosity at a young age. Whether it’s a one time donation or a specific savings account used for charitable giving, introducing the concept of sharing with those in need can help your child understand the impact that saving can have on the world around them.
Spend
Conscious spending is an important life skill. By setting spending limits and teaching your child to budget within them, you can help them understand the difference between wants and needs, build confidence in managing money, and make informed spending decisions.
Earn
One of the most straightforward ways to teach your child the value of work is setting up an allowance in exchange for chores. You could also encourage your child to earn money in other ways, like setting up a lemonade stand or helping a neighbor with a simple task.
